Artificial Intelligence in the Sorting of Municipal Waste as an Enabler of the Circular Economy

The recently finalized research project “ZRR for municipal waste” aimed at testing and evaluating the automation of waste sorting plants by supplementing or replacing manual sorting, with a robot artificial intelligence (ZRR). objectives were to increase current recycling rates purity recovered materials; collect additional materials from rejected flows; improve working conditions workers, who could then concentrate on, among other things, maintenance robots. Based on empirical results project, this paper presents main training operation robotic system based intelligence, which, our knowledge, is first attempt an application separation bulky solid (MSW) installation in full-scale treatment plant. key questions included (a) design test protocols assess quality process (b) evaluation performance six months underlying its database.
